Football season is here and to me that only means one thing. Food! Ok, and maybe some football thrown in there too. But let’s be honest, one of the main things people love about football (besides the sport itself) is the food that comes along with it. I can definitely agree with that statement, considering I only focus solely on the food when it comes to any football related party.

After making my buffalo chicken dip, I wanted to come up with another fun recipe that would be great for football season or just to eat in general. One thing that instantly came to my mind was pretzels, they’re the perfect little poppable snack!

But be warned that this recipe makes a lot of pretzels, not that it’s such a bad thing if you’re making them for a party. But if you’re like me and making them for you and one other person, well it’s not such a good thing. I shared about half of them with my sister and then hoarded the rest all to myself. Okay and maybe my husband too.

The weird thing with these ranch pretzels is that they start to mysteriously disappear. Weird, right? They may disappear even faster at your next football party. Don’t believe me? Try them for yourself!

Recipe Ingredients

This ranch pretzel recipe is about as easy as it gets! Here’s what you’ll need to make this appetizer:

  • Hard pretzels: Any shape will do.
  • Oil: Use a neutral oil, like vegetable or canola.
  • Ranch salad dressing mix: You need to buy the packet of dried seasoning, not the pre-made dressing in a bottle.
  • Garlic powder and dill weed: Amps up the flavor of these ranch seasoned pretzels.

How to Make Ranch Pretzels

To make the seasoned pretzels, simply stir the ingredients together in a large bowl. Then, transfer the coated pretzels to two parchment paper-lined baking trays.

Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes. Let the ranch pretzels cool completely before eating.

Storage Instructions

These pretzels will keep in an airtight container for 2 to 3 weeks at room temperature.

Baking Tips

  • To make these pretzels gluten-free, use gluten-free pretzels. Also double check that your ranch dressing mix is gluten-free.
  • If there is any oil remaining in the bowl after transferring the pretzels to the baking sheets, simply pour it over the pretzels and stir them around to coat well.
  • I recommend using a neutral oil (like canola or vegetable) so that it doesn’t compete with the ranch flavor.
