Homemade  Applesauce Cake

This ultra-moist applesauce cake features warming spices and unsweetened applesauce for a rich apple flavor. The brown butter cream cheese frosting on top is the perfect finishing touch!

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves

In a separate mixing bowl, combine the applesauce, brown sugar, granulated sugar, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract

Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined

Pour the batter into a greased baking pan and smooth into one even layer and bake for 25-35 minutes

Melt the butter in a saucepan and cook for 5-10 minutes, stirring often, until the butter is browned. Remove from heat and let it cool

Using a mixer, beat the cream cheese and brown butter together until smooth. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract and mix until fully combined

Spread the frosting over the cooled cake and smooth it out with an angled spatula
